Amanda Bollinger

I spend the majority of my free time working on collages and doing other arty/crafty things. I also really love to cook, read, and write. I like to go swimming as much as I can (I prefer natural, non-chlorinated water), go camping as soon as the weather permits, and go to live music concerts whenever possible. I spend a lot of time laughing with my friends too, which I can do at work - lucky me!

Courses Taken That Relate Childcare

I majored in Education for my A.S. I took many Education and Early Childhood Development classes at NIU in DeKalb, Illinois. I was accepted into the Illinois School of Education (298 out of possible 300 ~ Woot!) but was unable to go due to work restrictions. I changed my major to Psychology, but have always preferred working with children. I believe every interaction with a child is a learning experience for him or her and as well as for myself. I do plan on continuing my education to be a better a caregiver.

I am available for occasional week night babysitting. 319-936-7679

Childcare Experience

I have worked with Shimek BASP since August of 2011. I worked here from August to October of 2008 as well. Before joining the staff here as a manager, I worked as on-site supervisor at the Lucas On Campus Program. I did a lot of nannying and babysitting in college and I believe my last nanny job prepared me for BASP work (6 kids ages 4-14!).

Oh, By The Way...

I really love doing cooking club and am going to provide the recipes that we have done so far. I would absolutely love for students to bring in family recipes that they want to do – we can always use

suggestions for kid-friendly recipes.

We are going to be doing a variety of projects working with recycled materials this 2013 - 2014 school year. Please check my monthly newsletters for what kind of trash you can save for us. Thank you!
